Capacitor Circuit Polarity. Capacitor polarity is an important point to be considered during the connections. The polarity of capacitors can be identified in several ways as follows.
Capacitors are used in turning circuit in ac. The pcb manufacturer must install the capacitor in the correct way or risk damaging both the part and the circuit. Some capacitors are unpolarized like resistors.
Traditional capacitors have markings such as a minus sign to indicate polarity.
The difference between these two types of capacitors is very simple. So as the ac switches direction it cannot damage the capacitors because the capacitor is simply not polarized and can be plugged in either direction. The dc voltage maintains the required polarity across the electrolytic capacitor to form the oxide film. Electrolytic capacitor must be connected to the right terminals of dc power supply for proper operation when using in dc circuits.
