Monostable 555 Circuit. This is sometimes referred to as a one shot pulse. In a monostable circuit the output voltage becomes high for a set duration once a falling edge is detected on the trigger pin pin 2.
The 555 timer chip is extremely robust and stable 8 pin device that can be operated either as a very accurate monostable bistable or astable multivibrator to produce a variety of applications such as one shot or delay timers pulse generation led and lamp flashers alarms and tone generation logic clocks frequency division power supplies and converters etc in fact any circuit that requires some form of time control as the list is endless. 555 timer ic remains in stable state until the external triggering is applied. Once this high period of the pulse has passed the output turns off and stays off unless the pushbutton is pressed again.

An example of this can be seen with an led and a push button. The final output pulse appears some delayed time set via ic2 after the application of the initial input trigger signal. 555 monostable circuit with manual trigger choosing r1 and c1 choose c1 first because there are relatively few values available.
