Overloaded Electrical Circuit. Circuits are designed to handle a specific amount of electricity for household appliances such as your refrigerator or air conditioner. If there were no breakers the overload would cause the circuit wiring to overheat.
What is a circuit overload. Technically this means that the total electrical load has exceeded 1 800 watts for an 15 amp circuit which most homes are. The load limit for a 20 amp circuit is 2 400 watts.
At this point you have an overloaded circuit on your hands.
This can melt the plastic coating off the wires causing a fire or allowing a live current to be present which could shock anyone who touches the circuit. 120 volts x 15 amps 1 800 watts look for the amp rating of the circuit in tiny numbers on the circuit breaker switch or fuse to determine how many outlets you can have on a 15 amp circuit. When you draw more electricity than what a circuit can handle a circuit overload will occur. Circuit breaker trips help in breaking the circuit and thus the current flow.
