Thermistor Thermometer Diagram. Circuit diagram of thermistor temperature sensing alarm. A thermistor is a specialized resistor which changes resistance value depending on the amount of heat which it is exposed to.
Calculate its resistive value at 25 o c and again at 100 o c. The circuit symbol for a thermistor is shown below. Thermistors are ideal when a precise temperature reading is required.
Thermistors are available in two types.
Thermostat is used to control the devices or home appliances according to the temperature like turn on off air conditioner room heaters etc. Thermistors have a variety of applications. In contrast the resistance of an ntc thermistor decreases as temperature increases and this type seems to be the most commonly used thermistor. The working temperature range for most thermistors is between 0 c and 100 c.
