The wien bridge oscillator acts as a useful reference oscillator for analog circuits and the output signal can then be manipulated with other analog circuits. It employs two transistors each producing a phase shift of 180 and thus producing a total phase shift of 360 or 0. With no input signal a wien bridge oscillator produces continuous output oscillations.

Wien bridge oscillator is an oscillator which uses rc network so as to produce a sine wave at the output. It can generate a large range of frequencies. However the maximum frequency output of a typical wien bridge oscillator is only about 1 mhz. This frequency is referred to as resonant frequency.
